What will be a common business model for both worlds? How should we smarter the ‘return logistics’? Without a good organized return supply chain, a circular economy isn’t possible. With scientists of Het Groen Brein and entrepreneurs from the field these questions will be explored during an online circular event on the 31ste of August.
Being part of this initiative refurbkicks wants to push boundaries. Jean-Paul Tremio, co-founder refurbkicks, explains: “We want to bring all supply chain partners together in our sneaker business. We believe there is a world to win if we work together and smarter our logistics. In the near future manufactures must take more responsibility to take back their products to re-use materials for new / hybrid products. We want to be an interconnector between customer, stores and manufactures. We don’t see returns as waste; we see value.”

Tour de Ville (TDV) helps organizations like us distributing products to consumers without polluted courier vans. TDV acts from passion for sport and environment. Therefore, TDV uses electric trikes, cargo bikes, bike trailers and water-resistant backpacks to transport our kicks through the big cities in the south of The Netherlands. The other places are being reached in collaboration with other sustainable partners or by using public transport.
TDV: Besides doing good for the environment, we also believe in acting local. More then ever, local entrepreneurs need support to survive. Local distribution lowers tons of carbon emission and helps increasing local employment.
Jean-Paul Tremio, co-founder refurbkicks: “We want to be as sustainable as can be. For me it is a no-brainer to work with such an inspiring organization as Tour de Ville. I like the way the Tour de Ville team acts on daily basis. Being sustainable and innovating as well. TDV collaborates with 10 students of Fontys University of Applied Sciences to make adjustments to its cargo bikes to improve suspensions, so it can carry vulnerable products too. In its own organization TDV sets example buying circular furniture, using fair coffee and using solar panels to load their bikes and lamps. I hope other logistics organizations will follow TDV’s example to be this sustainable.”
About Tour de Ville
Since 1997 Tour de Ville transports packages with their electric trikes, cargo bikes, bike trailers and electric vehicles. TDV wants to be as sustainable as can be. That means:
TDV works on daily basis with 75 sporty employees and 90 bikes to help more then 800 customers delivering their goods on time.

customers.
Jean-Paul Tremio, co-founder refurbkicks: ‘I am over the moon with our collab with Sneaker Lab. I couldn’t believe they wanted to team up with refurbkicks. Huge brands preceded us, such as Puma, New Balance, Atmos and many more. At refurbkicks we want to be as sustainable as can be. Working together with a Green Tag Certified organization fits right in. The Sneaker LAB cleaning products surpassed our expectations. The products are easily to use and do what you want them to do: clean, protect and take care of your kicks. The proof is in the product!
About Sneaker LAB
Both people and the environment are important to Sneaker LAB; they want to extend our culture of care beyond sneakers by giving back to both communities and the planet. Currently, Sneaker LAB is working with South African based charity PSFA to help feed underprivileged school children and We Forest, to plant trees and crops around the world to offset their carbon footprint.
‘Yes, let’s do this.’, Nubikk, enthusiastic responded when refurbkicks asked them to be a sustainable brand partner.
The collaboration with refurbkicks fits in the sustainable strategy of Nubikk. At Nubikk they believe in sustainability and their responsibilities as a company for the environment and society. At Nubikk they aim for corporate transparency, close relationships with their partners, and trying to minimize the footprint. The sustainable way is an ongoing process and that there is always room for improvement.
Nevertheless, Nubikk made some huge steps in the right direction. Along with the 100% recyclable shoebox Nubikk wants to be 100% plastic-free. Currently, Nubikk is busy implementing plastic-free deliveries also for our wholesale customers. Nubikk provides sizing advice in its webshop to reduce orders with multiple sizes and returns based on wrong shoe size.
Jean-Paul Tremio, co-founder refurbkicks: ‘I am very excited about Nubikk being part of our sustainable movement in the sneaker business. It’s such a great recognition of such great exclusive brand. It shows great leadership to take a step to be our first brand partner. I believe Nubikk will inspire other cool brands to do the same.’
About Nubikk
Nubikk is one of the leading sneaker brands in The Netherlands. With their HQ in the ‘shoe-city of The Netherlands, Waalwijk, Nubikk operates worldwide and even has its own flagship store in Amsterdam. A shoe brand at first but with all this experience in leather craftsmanship and producing qualitative products, it was a small step to a collection of small leather handbags, accessories, and clothing. At Nubikk a great fit is everything. So in late 2019, a line of t-shirts and sweaters dropped in the most comfortable and heavy organic cotton you expect from Nubikk.
